<!-- FH = Cantlon Otterness Funeral Home, Buffalo -->Edith Mae Williams, 93, of Louisburg, Missouri was born on September 24, 1917, and passed away December 25, 2010. She was the youngest of seven children born to William Alfred Swofford and Ida Mae Swofford. Her siblings Oscar, Verna, Clarence, Vada, Alfred, and Jewell as well as her parents preceded her in death. Edith made a personal commitment to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at an early age and lived her life as an example of His love, humility, and service. She was a "prayer warrior" for her family and a member of the Louisburg First Baptist Church. On September 19, 1936 Edith married Glenn Richards Williams. They were married 66 wonderful years prior to his death in 2002. God blessed this union with four children who survive: Charles Williams and wife Judy of Berryville, Ark.; Geraldine Whipple and husband Leonard of Louisburg, Mo.; Laverna Hicks and husband Wallace of Buffalo, Mo.; and Tillman (Chuck) Williams and wife Vanece, of Springfield, Mo. Surviving also are 15 grandchildren, Charletta Warren and husband Jon; Darla McCoy; Robert Glenn Williams and wife Cindy; Kimberly Williams; Donnie Anderson and wife Chandra; Michael Anderson; Brandon Anderson and wife Olina; Jason Whipple and wife Debra; Shana Parker and husband Robert; Greg Hicks and wife Leisa; Laura Hamilton and husband Larry; Summer Freese and husband Mike; Cara Railey and husband Chris; Dena Frierson and husband Ross; and Mallory Williams. Edith is also survived by 29 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; as well as numerous other relatives and friends. Edith was at her husband's side helping on their farm near Berryville, Ark. In the early years of their marriage and later helped him operate a grocery store in Louisburg, Mo. following a family move in 1957. Edith adored her family, and regardless of what she was doing appeared to be the happiest when serving and fellowshipping with them. Upon retirement, she enjoyed several years of traveling with Glenn in their RV and took many trips to see family and friends as well as to see the country. Throughout her life, Edith also thoroughly enjoyed having her family and friends visit in her home and continued doing so until 5 days prior to her death. A kind and generous person, Edith possessed the unique gifts of making others feel "special" and "welcome." Other areas of joy for Edith was taking pictures and journaling her family's activities. As a result she leaves behind a cherished legacy of her life. Her family will sorely miss her presence as the "glue" of the family as well as her nightly parting saying of "good night, sweet dreams, God bless you, and I love you." Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m., Tuesday, December 28, 2010 in the Cantlon Otterness Funeral Home in Buffalo, Mo. Services will be in the Cantlon Otterness Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m., on Wednesday, December 29, 2010 with Pastor Chris Railey officiating. Interment will be in New Hope cemetery in Louisburg. The family requests that donations in Edith's memory be made to the Gideons International.
