Edith Mae Peters–Nicoll, 93, Monticello (formerly of Buffalo area), died Monday, July 25, 2011 at 10:21 p.m., at the Monticello Assisted Living and Healthcare Center in Monticello. She was born in Buffalo on April 21, 1918 to William and Minnie (Boze) Zeek. On Aug. 6, 1937 in Buffalo she married Edward H. ""Ed"" Peters. He died on April 21, 1970. Then on Dec. 18, 1971 she married Robert ""Bob"" Nicoll in Winamac. He died Dec. 5, 1985.She had resided in White and Cass Counties all of her life. She was a farmer all of her life. She worked in the garden and took care of the chickens. Edith was an excellent baker and cook. She enjoyed going to her son George's Ice Cream Shop in Buffalo, and going to yard sales.Survivors include a son, George (Dorothy ""Dotte"") Peters, Winamac (Buffalo area); grandchildren Steve (Sherry) Peters, Monon, Chuck (fiancé Deb Caldwell) Peters, Monticello, Jackie Starr, Winamac; eight great-grandchildren; 11 great-great grandchildren; sisters Mary Lou Ezra, Winamac, Marian Benson, Monon, Elizabeth Midge Mattix, Monticello (Buffalo).She was preceded in death by five sisters and two brothers.Visitation is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday at Miller-Roscka Funeral Home. Services are at 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Pastor Edward Clark officiating. Burial will be in Buffalo Cemetery, Buffalo. Memorials may be given to the Buffalo Cemetery Association.
