Eddie Mae Bell, 89, Sarasota, died Aug. 20, 2004. She was born April 27, 1915, in Damascus, Ga., and came to Sarasota in 1929. She was owner of Mae's Place. She was a member of Club Elite, Eastern Stars 33 and Choir 1 of New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church where she was a member. Survivors include her grandchildren, Deral Pitts, Linda Ferdinand, Charles Pompey Jr., all of Sarasota, Mary A. Pitts of California, Patricia McCraw of Ohio, and Brenda Baylor of St. Petersburg. Visitation will be from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday at Chandler's Funeral Chapel. A service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will be in Galilee Cemetery.
