CARTER, EVELYN BERNICE TILLER - age 86, passed away February 10, 2015, quietly at home. Member of Fountain City United Methodist Church. Retired from the Knoxville Board of Education. Preceded in death by her parents, Cecil (Knoxville Fire Department) and Lucille Tillery; sisters, Mildred Lucille Young, Dorothy Aileen Tiller; brother, Cecil Davis Tillery; loving husband, Robert Carter; daughter, Donna Ferguson. Survived by sister and her husband, Lois and Tom Sweet; son and his wife Alan and Tammie Carter. She cherished her four grandchildren, Kimberley, Aaron, Jason Ferguson, Brandon Carter; special niece and her husband, Denise and Tom Turner; special nephew and his wife, Mike Young and Laurel Eckhardt. Her passions were oil painting, for which she won several awards. She also enjoyed reading and genealogy. She was also Regent of NSDAR (National Society Daughters of the American Revolution) from 2001 - 2007. Family will receive friends Thursday, February 19, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Fountain City United Methodist Church. Service will follow at 7:00 p.m. Rev. Randy Frye officiating.
