WALKER, Ernest Orwell1915 – 2013Ernest (Ernie) Walker, age 98 years, passed away on Thursday, September 26, 2013 at St. Paul's Hospital, Saskatoon, SK. He will be deeply missed by his sons Ernie (Bobbi), Lorne (Theresa); daughter Joyce; granddaughters Kerry (Dave), Andrea (Adam), Chira (Jesse) and six great grandchildren; sisters Grace, Laura, and sisters-in-law, Joan and Margaret; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Harry and Gertrude, wife Elizabeth, sister Edna, brother Roy, daughter Gayle and great grandson Brendon. Dad was a good father and friend. He worked for the CN Railway and later for the Saskatoon Public School Board. His favorite enjoyment was his garden and he loved to tend his plants and flowers, winter and summer. He was an avid fan of the Saskatoon Blades and Saskatchewan Roughriders continuing to listen to "his games" right up to his death. Dad was an excellent storyteller and loved to share his stories of farming in Robin Hood, SK., his WWII experiences and the wisdom he gained over 98 years. He will be sadly missed. The family wishes to thank the staff of St. Paul's Hospital 7th floor for their very compassionate care. A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. from Hillcrest Funeral Home (east on 8th Street, first right past Briargate Road). A gathering of family and friends will be held following the interment.
