Elizabeth "Betty" Peters, a life-long resident of Yorktown Heights, died June 12, 2003 at Bethel Nursing Home in Croton. She was 79. She was born Elizabeth Mae Brown on September 14, 1923 in Hartsdale, New York to Dorothy and William Brown. She and her family moved to Yorktown a year later. For the next 30 years, they owned and operated a wholesale dairy businesses called Brown Dairy, one of Yorktown's six original farms. Betty was a Marine and served in Virginia where she met Donald E. Peters of the Army. On August 11, 1944, they were married and resided in Yorktown Heights on the family farm. She worked at Reader's Digest for 36 years as a system analyst. She is survived by her son Donald S. Peters of Yorktown; a granddaughter, Lisa Mackay of Shrub Oak; a grandson, Don Peters Jr. of Yorktown; and five great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Donald E. Peters who died in February 1981. Funeral arrangements and services will be handled by Clark Funeral Home in Yorktown Heights.
