Elizabeth K. "Betty" Brown (nee Kain) a lifelong Yonkers resident died on Friday, October 31, 2003 at St. John's Riverside Hospital. She was 88 years old. She was born on February 6, 1915 to Samuel and Helen Spillane Kain in Yonkers where she was raised and attended St. Joseph's Grade School and Elizabeth Seton High School. Mrs. Brown was an Accounts Receivable Supervisor for Plaza Materials, Inc., a paving company in Yonkers, for 40 years until her retirement in 1980. Mrs. Brown was the current Treasurer of The Monastery Manor Tenants Association, a member of the 60+ Club at North Yonkers Community Church and a former officer of the St. Joseph's Hospital Auxiliary and The Hudson River Museum Auxiliary. She was also an avid follower of politics in Yonkers. "She enjoyed good conversation and good company" said her niece, Aileen Flath. On August 29, 1942 she married Courtney G. Brown in Indianapolis, Indiana. Mr. Brown died in November 1978. Survivors include a sister, Helen F. Burns of Yonkers, a niece, Aileen Burns Flath of Yonkers, and several other nieces and nephews. She is also survived by many grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Timothy J. Kain and a nephew Timothy P. Burns. Visitation will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Sunday 2-4 and 7-9pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Sacred Heart Church on Monday, Nov. 3rd at 9:30am.
