SMITH, ELISABETH KIRCK "BETTE", Resident of Leesburg, Florida and long-time resident of Winter Park, Florida and Sapphire, North Carolina, passed away on February 16, 2006. Bette was born on April 26, 1919 in Springfield, Massachusetts, the daughter of Robert Henry Kirck and Florence Etta (Maddox) Kirck. Surviving family members include her husband, Jack Smith (Leesburg); her son and daughter-in-law, David and Jan Smith (Leesburg); her daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Todd Woodhull (Bedford, NH); her grandchildren, Jennifer Landry (Charlotte, NC), Amy Ely (Atlanta, GA), Erin Hockett (Charlotte, NC), Josh Woodhull (Roanoke, VA), and Elizabeth Kraft (Charlotte, NC; and her great-grandchildren Emma Landry, Jarret Ely, and Keira Ely. Bette was a long- time member of All Saints' Episcopal Church, Winter Park where she was active in guilds. Bette was active in and on the board of many civic organizations including the Winter Park Day Nursery; the Winter Park Garden Club; the Winter Park Memorial Hospital Women's Auxiliary; "Monday Menders"; and P.T.A. groups. Bette enjoyed painting and playing golf and bridge. Member of Winter Park Racquet Club, Rio Pinar, and The Country Club of Orlando. Memorial services for Elisabeth "Bette" Smith will be held at 11AM on Saturday, February 25, 2006 at St. James Episcop al Church, Leesburg, FL, with Father Robert Beauchamp officiating.
