HAMILTON, Douglas Joseph - Passed away at the Guelph General Hospital with his wife at his side, on Friday, April 10, 2009. Douglas Joseph Hamilton, in his 87th year, was the beloved husband of Irene (Smith) Hamilton, and the late Jemima (Ritchie) Hamilton (1995). He was the loving father of Susan Hamilton and her husband Ross Fair of London, Jane Hamilton Wilson and her husband Rod Wilson of Guelph, and step-father of Heather and her husband John Weigh of Guelph, Barbara and her husband Allen Wynne and Robert Smith all of England. Doug was the proud Papa of Kate Wilson, Jennifer Wilson, Jonathan Weigh (Lisa), Simon Weigh (Jennifer), Elizabeth Zegerius (Gerry), Andrew Higgins, Matthew Higgins, and Gareth Higgins, and great-Papa to Lilly, Martijn, Alex, Poppy and Owen. He was the dear brother of the late Margaret Wood. Doug is survived by many nieces and nephews. Resting at the Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon Street, Guelph, where the family will receive friends on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held in the chapel on Thursday, April 16, 2009 at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Samuel McCallum officiating. Private interment Woodlawn Memorial Park, Guelph.
