CARTER, Douglas Jay "Smooth" passed away on Monday, March 21, 2011. Born in Plymouth, IN, on Nov. 18, 1957. Doug lived in New Orleans and later settled in St. Petersburg where he has lived for 25 years. He was a Foreman for West Tampa Glass for 15 years. He was preceded in death by his mother Fern Estelle Keyser-Carter and father Marion Carter. Doug is survived by sisters, Patricia Himes, South Bend, IN and Teresa Mattke (Craig), Plymouth, IN; brothers, Timothy Carter (Christine), Lynchburg, VA, Steven Carter, Plymouth, IN & Edward Carter, St. Petersburg; step-mother Sharon Carter, Rochester. Doug's greatest love was his dog Harley and his cat Casper. His very last words were "please take care of my babies". We promise you Brother, we will. So go now. Be free, feel the wind on your face and Rest in Peace. A gathering of friends will be on Saturday, April 9, 2011 from 3-4 pm at R. Lee Williams Funeral Home, 3530 49th St. N., St. Petersburg. A reception will follow at Gina Gough's home at 52nd St. & 39th Ave N. Please Dress Doug Casual.
