WRIGHT Dorthy Mae Wright, 61, of Jacksonville, passed away Friday, September 14, 2007. She was born in Phillipi, West Virginia to Nolda Grover and Vivian Gertrude Stemple on January 25, 1946. Dorthy was a Christian and a true coal miner's daughter. She was a part of the staff at Spring Park Elementary School for twenty three years and was a member of the Fellowship of Believers. Dorthy won her first battle with cancer in 1996 and fought again courageously for the last year and a half. She is preceded in death by husband and soulmate, John L. Wright, Sr., her parents, brothers, Gilbert, Richard, Norman and Charles, and her sister, Lois Marie Smith. She is survived by her son, John Lee Wright, Jr. and his wife, Michele, daughters, Daphne Sue Farrell, Dava Jeneen Smiley, Megan Danielle Chaddock and her husband, Shane, Michaela Marie Wright, as well as many surrogate children throughout the years, grandchildren, Joshua, Logan and Jacob Wright, Lindsey and Fallon McDuffie, Truitt Joyner, Zachary Wright and Paytin Chaddock; brothers Nolda Stemple, Jr. and Delbert Neal Stemple. Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Friday, September 21, 2007 at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 4115 Hendricks Avenue, with Mr. R. Michael Perkins officiating. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home. Arrangements by Hardage-Giddens Hendricks Avenue Chapel.
