Dorothy C. Williams 1920 - 2010 BENNINGTON Dorothy C. Ward Williams, 90, died peacefully Friday, Nov. 26, 2010, at her Jewett Drive residence following a short illness. Born July 20, 1920, in Philadelphia, Pa., Mrs. Williams was the daughter of John and Ellen Law Ward and the loving wife for over 40 years of the late Thomas Sullivan and more recently for over six years of James Williams of Bennington, who survives. Mr. and Mrs. Williams were married Feb. 14, 2004. Mrs. Williams was a graduate of the Philadelphia College of the Bible. As a young woman, she was employed for several years as an office clerk at the former Pioneer Salt Company in Pennsylvania, and more recently has been a homemaker, raising her children and caring for her home. She was a longtime member of the North Pownal Congregational Church and served as the church organist for many years. She also assisted in playing the organ for worship services at many other churches throughout the area, including the Holy Names Episcopal Church in Boyntonville. In addition to her husband, James, Mrs. Williams is survived by her children, James and Jean Sullivan of Hatboro, Pa., Jane and Jim Hadfield of Phoenix, Pa., Joyce and John Lloyd of Valley Falls, N.Y., Janet and Butch Dupont of Monkton, N.Y., David J. and Reatha Williams of Pownal, and Thomas A. and Judy Williams of Bennington, a sister and her husband, Lucille and Jack Fenton of Midlothian, Va., a brother and his wife, Donald and Judy Ward of Cheltonham, Pa., treasured grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. MEMORIAL NOTICE: A memorial service with a reception to follow will be held on Friday, December 10, 2010, at 10 a.m. at the North Pownal Congregational Church, with the Rev. Gary Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeview Cemetery in West Addi Memorial contributions, if desired, at the request of the family may be made to the Grace Christian School, 104 Kocher Drive, Bennington VT 05201 in memory of Dorothy C. Williams. A special thanks to Dr. Marcus Martinez for his wonderful and compassionate care. Also special thanks to the Visiting Nurse Association and Bennington Hospice for their support and the Rev.
