Dorothy "Dot" Perkins Johnson - STONE MOUNTAIN - Dorothy "Dot" Perkins Johnson, 90, of Stone Mountain, GA, formerly of St. Simons Island, passed away on April 16, 2010. She was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Rev. Allen V. Johnson. She is survived by three sons, William A. (Bill) Johnson and wife Joan of Grayson, Ga., Kenneth W. (Kenny) Johnson and wife Leslie of Lawrenceville, Ga., Lt. Col. (Ret.) David W. Johnson, U.S. Army, of Golden, Co.; six grandchildren, Christa Johnson, Cheryl Johnson, Julie Johnson, 1st Lt. Robert Johnson, USMC, Kerianne Johnson and Caitlyn Johnson; two great-grandchildren, Kallie and Kayson; a cousin, Marilyn Humphrey; nieces, Rosalyn Alke and Joanne Swanson, and other family members. She was preceded in death by her parents, Annie Mae Wynne Perkins and Rollie M. Perkins, and her brother, R. Wynne Perkins. Dorothy was born in Stillmore, Emanuel County, Ga. on February 6, 1920. She graduated from Stillmore High School, and then earned a teaching degree at the University of Georgia in 1940. She taught school for several years and in 1944 married Allen Johnson, a United Methodist Minister. They met in Collins, Ga., and served churches in the South Georgia Conference including Guyton, Glennville, Attapulgus, Cochran, Hazlehurst, Dawson, Savannah, Port Wentworth, Ashburn, and Reynolds. Dorothy sang in the church choirs, played the piano, was a member of many Sunday school classes, and participated in the United Methodist Women. In 1980 Dorothy and Allen retired to St. Simons Island where she was a longtime member of St. Simons United Methodist Church. Following Allen's death in 1983, Dorothy became the organist at Lovely Lane Chapel in Epworth- By-The-Sea, serving for 19 years. Dorothy moved to Stone Mountain in 2005 to be near her children. She joined Mountain Park United Methodist Church. A service celebrating the life of Dorothy P. Johnson will be held Tuesday, April 20, 2010, at 11 a.m. at Lovely Lane Chapel in Epworth- By-The-Sea on St. Simons Island. Rev. Dave Hanson and Rev. Jim Jensen will officiate. The family will receive friends at Lovely Lane Chapel one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at 4:30 p.m. at Stillmore Cemetery, Stillmore, Ga. A memorial service will be held at Park Springs Retirement Community in Stone Mountain. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to Epworth- By-The-Sea, 100 Arthur J.
