Dorothy was born to Michael Francis Fleming and Elizabeth Brown Fleming on April 14, 1927, at the family home at 200 High Street in Geneva and grew up on "Christian Hill" surrounded by a wonderful and constant flow of family, friends, and neighbors. Queen of the senior prom, Dorothy graduated from Geneva High in 1945 and went to work at Shuron Optical. On June 17, 1950, she married her high school sweetheart, Charles J. "Jim" Cooley, at St. Stephen's Church. For nearly 60 years she, and her husband lived at 86 Slosson Lane in Geneva, raising four children. She was a communicant of St. Francis deSales Church and involved in the Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts, but Dorothy's lifelong vocation was ensuring everyone was well loved and well fed. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who devoted her life to caring for others. She taught us what family means, encouraged us to do our best, and showed us how to live a loving life. She will be sorely missed but will live in our hearts forever. Dorothy is survived by her husband, Jim, of Geneva; her sons and their wives, Herb and Sue Cooley of Geneva, and Mike and Patty Cooley of Webster (N.Y.); her daughters and their husbands, Eileen and Matthew Sullivan of Virginia Beach (Va.), and Hope and Ernie Dodge of Cortland (N.Y.); grandchildren Chris, Katie, Krista, and Zac Cooley, Catherine and Daniel Sullivan, and Eden and Lannis Dodge. She is also survived by her brother and his wife, Mike and Tina Fleming; her sister, Jane Hefferon, of Geneva; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents; sisters, Elizabeth "Betty" and Catherine Fleming; half brothers and sisters Andrew, John, and Benjamin "Bud" Brown, Helen Holland, Grace Schillhour; and five Fleming half-sisters including Mildred Fleming Keith. For those wishing to write a note of condolence, please visit www.devaneybennettfh.comArrangements have been entrusted to the DeVaney-Bennett Funeral Home
