Dorothy Mae Cox, age 82, was born in Yarbo, Ala., on Feb. 2, 1926, and went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Dec. 18, 2008. She was a resident of the Fort Walton Beach, Fla. area for over 50 years. Dorothy loved to laugh, spend time with her family and enjoyed crocheting, gardening and nurturing her children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, James and Leaster Thompson; two brothers; and one sister. Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Eugene R. Cox, Sr.; two sons, Eugene (Deborah) Cox, Jr. of Atlanta, Ga., James (Frances) Cox of Moorestown, N.J.; two daughters, Diann (Robert) Rehr of Shalimar, Fla., Katherine (Kirk) Schultz of Pensacola, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Jimmie (Marvin) Chancery of Mobile, Ala.; brother, James (Sue) Thompson of Alexander City, Ala.; numerous beloved nieces and nephews and many family and friends. Visitation will be held on Monday Dec. 22, 2008, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Emerald Coast Funeral Home, 113 Racetrack Road, N.E., Fort Walton Beach, with services beginning at 1 p.m. Private Graveside Services will follow at Beal Memorial Cemetery in Fort Walton Beach.
