Avis de décès de Dorothy-M. Johnson

Dorothy M. Johnson BARRINGTON, IL - Dorothy Marie Johnson (nee Reeg), 88, a lifelong resident of Ewing, NJ, died on Aug. 5, 2010, in Barrington, IL, at Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital, while under the care of Northwest Palliative Care and Hospice. She had been in declining health for several months. She was comforted at the time of her death by her daughters at her bedside, as she passed, and she now rests in peace embraced in the loving arms of her predeceased loved ones and The Holy Family to whom she equally revered. Dearly known to her friends and family as "Dottie" or "Dot," she treasured deep roots in the homes she tended in her New Jersey dwellings. Daughter of the late Anna M. (Coyle) and Frank J. Reeg Sr., she is survived by daughter, Margaret, and her husband, Joseph P. Kurpiewski of West Trenton, NJ, and daughter, Mary Louise and her husband, Peter A. Persuitti, of Lake Barrington, IL. She is also survived by her only brother, Frank J. Reeg Jr. of Ewing, NJ. She leaves as part of her legacy her grandchildren, Christopher M. Kurpiewski of Princeton, NJ, and Daniel M. Kurpiewski of West Trenton, NJ, Justin T. Persuitti of Hong Kong, and Damen J. Persuitti of Lake Barrington, IL. She was predeceased by three infant grandchildren, Joseph P.Kurpiewski Jr., Pater A. Persuitti Jr., and Nathan J. Persuitti. Additionally, she is survived by her nephew, Timothy F. Reeg and his wife, Beth, and their children, Emily and Robert Reeg of Ewing NJ, and her niece, Susan E. Reeg and her partner, Cora J. Baker, of Ewing, NJ. Beloved wife of the late Albert "Albie" A. Johnson, she was widowed in September 2008. They had been married for 62 years at the time of his death. Over their lifetime, she accompanied Albie on many adventurous road trips through the United States and Canada. Most summers were casually spent on Long Beach Island, NJ, as a favorite vacation spot with family and friends for nearly 50 years. Most of Dorothy's married life was dedicated to her family, home and strong traditions that she upheld. She relished many memories from those cherished times with her children and grandchildren. Prior to her marriage, in the late 1940s she worked in the manufacturing offices of De Laval Turbine Inc. and then as a teller for Trenton Trust Company. After being dedicated to raising her daughters, she returned to the workforce and applied her past office skills as an assistant to the Registrar in The Office of Graduate Studies at Trenton State College from where she retired in 1978. Over the years, she was active in her girls' interests as a local volunteer member of the PTA at Incarnation Grammar School and for the Girl Scouts of America. Dorothy was an avid reader, creative knitter, and an enthusiastic Rummi-Q game player. Her "from scratch" piecrust at the holidays was an unmatched culinary delight! Dot was an original member of a group of close friends who affectionately named their get-togethers, "The Girls Club." The remaining club members still meet on the first Wednesday of each month. To those "best friends forever," especially Marty Ribsam, Dolores Weidmann, Marie Kay, and all her club-mates, she remains eternally grateful to have shared so many of life's ups and downs that she journeyed with them as well as her own. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday at St. Ann Roman Catholic Church, 1253 Lawrenceville Rd., Lawrenceville, NJ. There will be a calling hour from 10 to 11 a.m. at St. Ann in the Chapel prior to the services in the church. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hamilton, NJ. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Mullen Funeral Home, 537 S. Olden Ave., Trenton, NJ. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions in Dorothy's name may be made to The National Kidney Foundation, 30 E. 33rd St., New York, NY 10016.
