Dorothy M. (Foster) Johnson, a beautiful child of God passed away in the presence of her close friend Sylvia Whitley at 6:45 A.M. Sunday, February 12, 2012. Born January 31, 1921 to Arthur and Goldie (Whitemore) Foster in Quincy, IL. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Alfred Johnson, her parents and by one sister and two brothers. She was a member of St. Andrew United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Esther Circle and the Golden Circle Sunday School class. Dorothy was a faithful and regular volunteer worker in the church office. She met and married Roy in 1954 and had a wonderful 49 year union blessed by God until Roy passed away on July 28, 2003. Dorothy's church family was also her close family. She never reached out during her final days without a member of that church family there to hold her hand and comfort her. Her Brothers and Sisters in Christ who loved her best, and were able to attend to her every need, were her family church family: John and Sylvia Whitley; Jo Ann Sutter; Mary Grace Thomas: Winn Marsh; Pat Hudson; Shirley Townsend' Maris McQuagge; Jo Ann Fortson; Hortense Thurman; Rev. John and Angelia Whatley; Jim Prater; Rev. Chris Cook; her Guardian and good friend David McSpadden and her Pastor Brother Dan Nixon. Special thanks are due to the staff at Panama City Nursing Center; members of the cardiac North unit at Bay Medical Center and Covenant Hospice. The tenants at St. Andrew Tower will remember Dorothy for the wonderful treats she regularly baked and donated for their enjoyment during her 19 year tenancy there. She was a wonderful Christian lady who blessed the lives of everyone who knew her. A memorial with Rev. John Whitley officiating will be held at the Landing At The End of The Road at a date to be announced later.
