Jordan, Dorothy Lewis GREEN ISLAND Dorothy Lewis Jordan, beloved wife of the late William "Boots" Jordan, Sr., died Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at the Samaritan Hospital in Troy. Born and raised in Green Island, daughter of the late Edmund and Margaret Chard Lewis, she had been employed as the crossing guard at Heatly School in Green Island for 34 years, where she watched over the children with a protective eye and a gentle hand. She retired two years ago. Dot was also a very accomplished seamstress who could do anything from hemming a pair of pants to creating a beautiful wedding gown. She is the loving mother of David (Mary) Jordan of Dyken Pond, Bruce Jordan of Johnsonville, Jo-Anne (Paul) Bowman of Buskirk, Griffith (Ivanka) Jordan of Michigan, James Jordan of Green Island, Sue-Ellen (Douglas Wademan) Jordan of North Carolina and the late William Jordan, Jr.; proud grandmother of Jessica, Chelsea, Rebecca, Paul, Ryan, Lucas, Cole, Joshua and Nicholas; great-grandmother of Luci, Rafi and Peytan; sister of William Lewis of Raymertown, Shirley Stout and Ruth O'Hara, both of New Jersey and the late Robert Lewis and Margaret Hartshorn. Funeral services will be held at the McNulty Funeral Home, 147 Hudson Avenue, Green Island on Friday at 11 a.m. A calling hour will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. on Friday prior to the funeral service. Interment will be beside her beloved "Boots" in St. Patrick's Cemetery in Colonie. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the "Mrs. Jordan's Kids Fund" which has been established for the benefit of the young students entering Heatly School who may be in need of a helping hand.
