Dorothy (Dot) Ann Keith Lee passed away on January 8, 2007, at Grand Oaks Health and Rehabilitation Center in Palm Coast, Florida. With her at the time were her loving daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Don Wyatt. Dot was born in 1923 in Pickens, South Carolina. The daughter of Ella Lewis Keith and Oscar Coatsworth Keith, Dot grew up in Pickens and graduated from Pickens High School. She was a member of the Winthrop College Class of 1944. Two years later, she married the love of her life, Walter M. Lee Jr. Walter had served in World War II, landing on D-Day in the first wave of the Normandy invasion. Walter and Dot were married 50 years; he died in 1997.Their married life was spent in Greenville, S.C., where they raised their two children, Walter (Wally) M. Lee III, married to Alyson, and Nancy Keith Lee Wyatt, married to Don. Dot retired from Internal Medicine Associates, where she worked for many years as a medical technician. She was the happy grandmother of Jenny McElveen (Kevin), Jason Wyatt, and Amy Wyatt. She was the very proud great-grandmother of triplet girls, Susan Elizabeth, Emily Ann, and Jaime Lee. Dot loved her family, and surrounded herself with their photographs and mementos, which she enthusiastically showed her many visitors. In addition to her family, Dot's passions were music, dancing, and cats - all of which were vividly exemplified in her Grand Oaks room. She played Frank Sinatra CDs, smilingly swaying in her wheelchair to the beat of the music. One of her favorite photos showed her dancing with her grandson-in-law, Kevin. Dot loved life, and lived every moment to the fullest, even when confined to a wheelchair. Dot was a woman of great faith, who will be remembered for her extraordinary love for people. She never met a stranger, and shared love and good humor with all she knew. Dot's laughter was contagious; one heard peals of laughter wherever she was. Additional family left to mourn her passing are Burke and Eileen Lee, Joe Sublette, Sandy Guettler, Laura Seitz, Lee Miller, Dan Lee, Allen Lee, and the well-known South Carolina artist Claire Miller Hopkins. Also grieving her loss are her cat, Lollipop, and her three grand-cats, Sonya, Sasha, and Charmie Boy.The family will receive visitors at The Mackey Mortuary in Greenville, S.C., on Thursday from 5 to 6:30 p.m. A private graveside service will be followed by a celebration of Dot's life Friday at 11 a.m. at The Mackey Mortuary. Dr. Jerry L. Dickerson and Dr. Daryl Sterling will officiate. The family wishes to thank the staff at Grand Oaks for their attentive care of Dot during the last years of her life. A memorial service will be held there on January 19 at 2 p.m. Memorials may be made to Spirit Life Worship Church, whose members loved Dot and cared for her. The address is P.O. Box 352225, Palm Coast, Florida 32135. A guest register may be signed at www.mackeymortuary.com.
