->Mystic - Dorothy L. Doyle, 91, of Mystic, died Wednesday, March 31, 2010.She was born in Jersey City, N.J., on Tuesday, April 8, 1919, the daughter of Dennis and Catherine (Carey) Lynch. She grew up and lived most of her life in Pittsfield, Mass. After graduating from St. Joseph High School, she worked for the Naval Ordnance General Electric.She married John Andrew Doyle on Nov. 24, 1942, in Pittsfield. Their family soon grew to include their five children. Sadly, he predeceased her on May 25, 1996. After her children were grown, she went to work as a bookkeeper for Crescent Creamery in Pittsfield. She and John moved to this area in 1982 after he had retired to be near their family.A devoted homemaker and mother, she always enjoyed attending sporting and other events her children and grandchildren were involved in, especially their baseball and basketball games. The love she shared with all of them has created many wonderful memories, and she will be greatly missed. Dorothy loved to swim and did so as often as possible throughout her entire life, even into her later years. Her enthusiasm for swimming, once led her to participate in a "100 Mile Challenge", something of which she was always proud. She was also an avid reader who volunteered her time at all the local school libraries both here and in Pittsfield. Dorothy was a communicant of St. Mary Church, Stonington.She is survived by her five children and their spouses, Jack and Bekki Doyle of Boulder, Colo., Thomas and Lillie Doyle of Mystic, Terry and Angie Doyle of Snellville, Ga., Brian Doyle of Stonington, and Janet Doyle-Messer of Hollis, N.H.; ten grandchildren, Stephanie and Frank LeCrone, Erin and Jeff Joyce, Timothy Doyle, Todd Doyle, Kevin Doyle, Katie Doyle, Jeremy Doyle, Connor Doyle, Brie and Luke Vernon, and Kellie Messer; and also seven great-grandchildren.In addition to her husband of 53 years, she was predeceased by her two brothers, Edward and Jack Lynch.Mystic Funeral Home, Route 1, Mystic, is in charge of her funeral arrangements which will be private and at the convenience of her family. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at a later date and will be announced.
