Dorothy Joann Ward SPARTANBURG, SC-- Dorothy Joann Weikle Ward, 74, died Monday, May 13, 2013, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. She was the widow of Calvin Gilbert Ward and a daughter of the late Marcus Lee Weikle and Lula Siers Weikle. A native of Charleston, WV, and a former resident of Myrtle Beach, SC, from 1985-2012, she was currently a resident of Emeritus of Skylyn Place, Spartanburg, SC, since January, 2013. Mrs. Ward was a Presbyterian and a professional lady who retired from Grand Strand Regional Medical Center in 2003 as a registered nurse, and was also a Mary Kay director/consultant. She loved her family and friends, and her hobbies were knitting, reading, gardening, swimming, and walking. Surviving are three children, Jane W. Whaley (fiancé, Peter H. Makris) of Myrtle Beach, SC, Joyce C. Ward, M.D., of Charlotte, NC, and Mark E. Ward, M.D. (Anne) of Spartanburg, SC; two brothers, John S. Weikle (Jeri) of Troy, OH and Michael D. Weikle (Nancy) of Ann Harbor, MI; two sisters, Patricia W. Hissong (Richard) of FL, and Margaret W. Bertolotti (Ric) of Charleston, WV; six grandchildren, Calvin, Clay, and Christan Whaley; Layton, Madison, and Charlotte Ward. She was predeceased by a brother, Marcus Weikle; a sister, Mary W. Doss; and stepmother, Elizabeth Neal Weikle. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, May 17, at Bobo Funeral Chapel officiated by Rev. Steve Wise. Visitation will be prior to the service at 12:00 noon. Private burial will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, May 20, at Ocean Woods Memorial Cemetery, Myrtle Beach, SC.
