RICE - Dorothy Jean (McPhail). The family regretfully announces the passing of Dorothy Jean Rice, after a lengthy illness, at Edmonton's Royal Alexandra Hospital in the early hours of Tuesday morning, December 14. She confronted her health problems with her trademark feisty spirit, and maintained her unique sense of humour throughout. Left to mourn her passing are her husband of fortyone years, Roger Rice; her children Grant (Sherri), Karen Kormos (Andrew), Dale (Lisa), and Earl; her grandchildren Samantha and Karly Lindstrom, Daniel, Michael and Nicole Rice; her sisters Grace Ross, Margaret Postnikoff (Ron), and brother John McPhail (Catherine); her sisters-in-law Melanie (Bill) Thomas, Elaine (Art) Trewin, and Norma; her brothers-in-law Gary (Eveline), Ralph, Brian, and Owen. She was predeceased by her parents Ross and Erie McPhail and her parentsin-law Sydney and Marie Rice. Born in Darcy, Saskatchewan, Dorothy had many happy memories of growing up in Beechy. She married Roger Rice in 1963. They and their four children lived in Davidson and Saskatoon before moving to Alberta in the early 1970's. For friends so wishing, donations may be made in Dorothy's memory to the Canadian Diabetes Association. There will a memorial service at Parkland Funeral Services, 3502 44th Avenue, Stony Plain, on Saturday, December 18, beginning at 3:30 p.m.
