BERWICK, Maine ; Dorothy E. Horne, 90, of Cemetery Road, Berwick, died April 29, 2009, at home.She was born February 5, 1919, in Dover, N.H., the daughter of Raymond and Elizabeth Coleman (LePage) Conrad. She attended schools in Dover, Kittery and Portsmouth, N.H., and was a graduate of Portsmouth High School, class of 1936. She also attended Smith School of Dance in Portsmouth and graduated Smith's Teacher Training Program. Dorothy enjoyed dancing in R.K.O. Vaudeville and then opened her own School of Dancing and taught dancing for 27 years. She enjoyed sewing, especially dressmaking and quilting, having made about 30 quilts. Dorothy joined Rebekahs at age 18, and was a lifetime member and past Noble Grand of Banner Lodge in South Berwick. Sixteen happy winters were spent with her husband in Zephyrhills, Florida. She was predeceased by her husband of 47 years, Kenneth Horne. Survivors include a daughter, Elizabeth Kinney, a son, David, and his wife Grace; four grandchildren, Rachael and Joshua Hutchinson, and Raymond and Joseph Horne; one great-grandson, Matthew Coyne; two brothers-in-law, Gordon and Carl Horne, and Carl's wife, Harriet, all of Berwick; a nephew and three nieces. Calling hours will be on Friday, May 1 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Laing-Bibber Funeral Chapel, 36 Rochester St., Berwick, where a funeral service will be held on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. with Reverend Robert Cole officiating.
