VEAZIE - Dorothy Henderson, 84, died Friday, Nov. 28, 2008, at her home. She was born June 30, 1924, in Dover-Foxcroft, daughter of Sherman and Gertrude (Powers) Dean. Dorothy was very active in her community. She was a member of Millwee Chapter No. 198, Order of the Eastern Star of Orrington and a dedicated employee for the town of Veazie for more than 40 years. She also loved feeding birds and volunteering at the Maine Veterans' Home. She was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and Boston Celtics. Dorothy is survived by two sons, Dean Henderson of Gardner and Peter Henderson and his partner, Janine, of Richmond; grandchildren, Joshua and his wife, Michelle, Ian, Jaime and Ashlie; great-grandchildren, Tyler, Dillon and Kendra; many nieces and nephews. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband of 42 years, Sampson Henderson; brothers, Ronald and Myron Dean; and her sister, Anna Merrill. Relatives and friends are welcome to call 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where a funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3, with the Rev. Dr. Rex Garrett, director of chaplaincy services at Eastern Maine Medical Center, officiating. Interment will be afterward at Fairview Cemetery, Veazie.
