CAMPTON — Dorothy H. Demers, 83 of 273 Riverside Drive, formerly of Thornton, died Sunday, May 29, 2005 at the Speare Memorial Hospital in Plymouth.She was born in Bingham, Maine on August 30, 1921, the daughter of the late Ora and Edith (Norseworthy) Smith. She was raised in Beebe River and graduated from Plymouth High School in1942. She moved to Thornton where she raised her family and resided there for over 50 years before moving with her daughter, Pauline, in Campton in 2001. She enjoyed planting flowers, canning, bingo, cribbage as well as numerous other card games. She was a loving Mother and Grandmother. She was a past member of the Campton Congregational Church.She shared 22 years of marriage with Peter Demers, who died in 1964. She was also predeceased by nine brothers and sisters.Survivors include two daughters, Pauline E. Giroux of Campton, Linda Mellett of Woodstock; three sons, Leslie Demers of Campton, Gary Demers of Keesville, N.Y., Brian Demers of Thornton; nine grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.Funeral Services will be held at the Mayhew Funeral Home, 12 Langdon Street, Plymouth on Thursday, June 2, at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited and may call at the funeral home, Thursday from 9:30 until the hour of the service.
