JOHNSON Dorothy Gretchen Johnson died on February 1, 2010. Born in Leipzig, Germany, she grew up in Germany during World War II, lived under a brief American occupation, a Russian occupation and then under the East German Communist government, before fleeing to West Germany. Dorothy lived and worked in Berlin and Heidelberg. As a United States Military Officer's wife, she lived in over twenty locations in the United States and Europe. She worked at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. before moving to Ponte Vedra Beach. An avid tennis player, skier, beach and pool person; she found Ponte Vedra Beach her ideal home. She was preceded in death by her parents. Dorothy is survived by her husband, Captain Charles Johnson, U.S. Navy (retired) of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL; her brother-in-law, Harold (Clara) Johnson of Demopolis, AL; sister-in- law, Delores (Charles) Hubbert of Florence, AL; and many nieces and nephews.
