Dorothy Violet Erickson (nee Radelia) Whiting, IN/Chicago Dorothy Violet Erickson (nee Radelia), 76, of Whiting, IN, late of Chicago, IL, left our world for a better one on Monday, March 1, 2004. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Alvin, of 43 years, in 1991 She was a mother to seven children: Helen Ellis, Barbara Radford, Edith Murray, Linda Zlotkowski, Anthony, Joseph and John erickson. Dorothy was grandmother to 15 grandchildren, Roy Ellis III, Scott Ellis, Cynthia Gragg, Julie Macon, Lori Klasen, Shar Radford, Michael, Jeremy, and Jason Vanderberg, Dana and Kristy Zlotkowski, Jody, Brittany, Elijah, and Megan Erickson. She had 17 great-grandchildren: Tricia, Colten, Austen and Kylie Ellis, Gabriel and Chandler Gragg, Destiny, Daniel, Jordan, and Caleb Macon, Alexandra and emily Klasen, Jacob and Sebastian Nowakowski, Devin, Avery and Cameron Vanderberg. Dorothy was a member of the Womens' Auxiliary of the Amvets Post 64. She was one of the Chicago Cub's greatest fan and an avid bell collector. She loved bingo, bowling and the "boats". Dorothy will be deeply missed by her family and her many friends. Friends and family may visit on Wednesday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Owens Funeral Home, Calumet Ave. & 119th St., Whiting. Funeral services will be on Thursday, March 4, 2004 at 10 a.m. at the Owen Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. William Hall officiating. Burial at St. Joseph Cemetery, Hammond, IN.
