EVANS Dorothy - 81, Victoria, B.C. passed away July 25, 2003, peacefully at the home of her daughter, Patricia Lindley, Seabright, Nova Scotia. Born at Holme-on-Spalding-Moor, Yorkshire, England, on March 14, 1922, she was the daughter of Albert and Mary (Rennison) Hawcroft. She was the widow of David H. L. Evans (d. 1982). Surviving are her daughters, Catherine (Malcolm) Miller, St. Thomas, Ontario; Patricia Lindley (Richard Hattin); grandchildren Abigail and Nicholas Miller, Jeremy and Thomas Lindley, and in England, sisters Mary Thornton; Winnie Wilkin; and brother, Roy Hawcroft. She was predeceased by sisters Ruth Lloyd, Phyllis Kendall, Bet Hawcroft, and brothers Tom, Frank and Les Hawcroft. An adventurous world traveller, Dorothy also enjoyed regular trips to Ontario and Nova Scotia to visit her family where she will be remembered by the many friends she made. Dorothy, a long-time member of Royal Colwood Golf Club, was an enthusiastic golfer, bridge player and walker and a reluctant, but determined gardener. She dedicated many hours in the service of the Victoria community and she will be missed by all those whose lives she touched. Cremation has taken place in Nova Scotia. There will be a memorial celebration of Dorothy's life at 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 15, 2003 at First Memorial Funeral Chapel, 4725 Falaise Drive, Victoria with reception to follow in the Garden Room. Remembrances in her name may be made to the Hospice, 1900 Fort St., Victoria. B.C.
