GUILDERLAND Dorothy E. Johnston, 90, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 8, 2003 at the Teresian House in Albany. Mrs. Johnston was born in York, Pa. to the late Edward and Edna Scott. She was raised in Baltimore, Md. and moved to Albany as a teenager. She graduated from Vincentian Institute in 1933. Dorothy married James (Si) Johnston on April 26, 1935 and they enjoyed 55 years of marriage until his death in 1990. She was a homemaker and also worked for NYS Department of Social Services from 1966 to her retirement in 1978. She was a communicant of the Church of Christ the King in Guilderland an a member of the Home Bureau. Dottie was the superwoman of shopping. She always was ready to go for a good time as well. She was the mother of Patricia J. Johnston of Cohoes, Elinor (Bee) J. Whinnery and her husband LeRoy of Leesburg, Fla. and Seymour (Si) F. Johnston of Guilderland and his fiancee Amy Waycie; sister of William Scott of Ariz. and the late Carroll and Eugene Scott; grandmother of Jeffrey Clement, Candace Caputo, Linda Ferrer, Kimberly Mobley, Mark Clement, Veronica Greene, Marilyn Hurley, Wendy Schmitt, LeRoy Whinnery, Scott Whinnery, James (Si) Johnston, Edward Johnston and Kari Johnston. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Church of Christ the King, 20 Sumpter Ave., Guilderland. Relatives and friends may call at the Fredendall Funeral Home, 199 Main St., Altamont on Friday from 4-8 p.m. The parish family of Christ the King Church will gather at 7 p.m. for a service of prayer and remembrance. All are welcome. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Guilderland.
