DOROTHY ERICKSON CROWN POINT/FORMERLY GRIFFITH AND LOWELL, IN Dorothy E. Erickson, age 93, of Crown Point, formerly of Griffith and Lowell passed away Monday, November 30, 2009 at St. Anthony Nursing Home. She is survived by one son, Barry (Leneda/Suzi) Erickson, two daughters: Lynn (late Jerry) Smith, Maribeth (Cecil) Mercer, Jr., 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by the one true love of her life, Leo M. "Xun" Erickson in March 1967, and loving son and son-in-law, Gerald L. Erickson and Jerald E. Smith. She outlived all of her siblings which included 3 sisters and 1 brother. Dorothy was a strong and independent woman who up until November 2007 lived on her own. Known for her spunk and sense of humor she will be missed by all who knew her. Friends are invited to meet with the family Wednesday, December 2nd from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Kuiper Funeral Home, 9039 Kleinman (2 blocks South of Ridge Road) Highland and St. Mary Church, Griffith, from 9:30 until time of service. Funeral service, Thursday December 3rd at 10:00 AM directly at St. Mary Church 525 N. Broad, Griffith with Rev. Theodore Mens officiating. Burial will follow at Catholic Cemeteries in Hammond.
