Dorothy (Kennedy) Casey, 93, of West Springfield, passed on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at Mary’s Meadow in Holyoke. She was formerly employed as a chemist at the Nashua NH Waste Water Treatment Plant. Dorothy was born on December 28, 1921 in Bridgeport, CT and was the daughter of the late John and Florence (Dunn) Kennedy. She was raised in Astoria, Queens, New York and moved to Chicopee when she got married. From 1977 to 1990, Dorothy lived in New Hampshire and then returned to Western MA. She was a devote Catholic and a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Springfield. Dorothy was a loyal volunteer at the Mercy Medical Center for over twenty years and was a member of the Agawam-West Springfield Nocturnal Adorers. Dorothy is predeceased by her husband, Albert L. Casey, who died in1980, a daughter, Mary-Lynn Casey, who died in 2006, her two brothers, Raymond Kennedy and John Kennedy, Jr. and her sister, Florence Mullen. She is survived by her two daughters, Ginger Lister and her husband, George of Florida and Judy Stokowski and her husband, Russ of West Springfield. She also leaves behind seven grandchildren: G. Casey Lister and his wife, Holly, Patrick Kennedy Lister and his wife, Tegan, Tamar Mary Lister, Sarah Dorothy Lister, Evan Albert Stokowski, Alli Casey Stokowski and Adam Thaddeus Fonfara Stokowski as well as two great grandchildren, Patrick Kennedy Lister, Jr. and Spencer Cushman Lister. Dorothy’s funeral will be held on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 from the Cierpial Memorial Funeral Home on 69 East St. in Chicopee Falls, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial in St. Patrick’s Church on Broadway at 11 am. Her burial will be in St. Rose de Lima Cemetery on Olsen St. in Chicopee. Visitation will be held before the funeral Tuesday morning from 9:00 to 10:30 am. The family would like to extend their deep gratitude to the staff at Mary’s Meadow for their extreme compassion and patience over the past four years.
