JOHNSON, DOROTHY B. 79, of Portland, passed away Monday, August 9, 2004, at her home. She was the former Dorothy B. Jones and a Board of Elections republican precinct worker for over 30 years. She was a charter member of the Portland Republican Club, the Portland Development Organization and the Sixth District Police Auxiliary, where she was also cochair of the children's Christmas party for 28 years. She was an associate member of Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #614, Louis- ville FOP Lodge #6 and the Louisville Police Officers Association. She was also a Portland Block Watch Captain and a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Howard "Bob" Johnson Jr., and her parents, Alvin "Bud" and Mildred Haysley Jones. She is survived by three sons, Joseph A. "Butch," Howard III and Richard W. Johnson; two daughters, Beverly A. Piercy and Mary N. (Embry) Taylor; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; her loving dog, Kiara Marie; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and many, many friends. Her funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, August 12, 2004, at J.B. Ratterman & Sons, 2114 W. Market St., with burial in Zachary Taylor National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Wednesday. Memorial gifts may go to the Sixth District Police Auxiliary Children's Christmas Party, 416 N. 29th St., Louisville, KY 40212 or to Hospice of Louisville.
