Johnson, Dorothy A.July 24, 1910 - June 8, 2008Dorothy A. Johnson passed away quietly at her home on Sunday, June 8. She was born in McCluny, Ohio, July 24, 1910, the daughter of Edwin, a Methodist minister, and Emma Hughes Johnson. Dorothy graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University in 1932 and received her masters in library science from the University of Michigan in 1954. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Kay L. Johnson; her sister-in-law, Vivian; and nephew, Curtis Johnson. An avid reader, she was a strong influence on many of the young people she served in her job as head librarian at New Trier High School in Winnetka, Ill. Dorothy's adventuresome spirit took her on a solo trip around the world in 1966-67. Upon retirement, she moved to the Sarasota area prior to moving to Melbourne, Fla.She was a strong animal lover and supported many animal rights groups throughout her lifetime. Donations may be made to the charity of one's choice in honor of this lifetime passion.
