DANER DOROTHY RITA (MAISON) -- Age 87 of Mount Clemens, passed away on Thursday evening in William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak. She was born on April 19, 1917 in Mount Clemens, Michigan, the daughter of the late Edmund and Louise (LaForest) Maison. On July 14, 1944, she was united in marriage with James Carew Daner at March Field Air Force Base in Riverside, California. The Honorable James Daner, Circuit Judge, passed away on August 7, 1985 in Ann Arbor. Dorothy had lived at her present address for more than fifty years. Mrs. Daner was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Mount Clemens and St. Louis Catholic Church in Clinton Township. She had worked as a secretary at the Macomb County Building. Dorothy lived life to the fullest. Her love of travel and thoroughbred horse racing was legend and her Kentucky Derby parties were renowned. She owned many thoroughbred horses throughout her life and raced them for more than 40 years. Dorothy always had a suitcase packed and was ready to travel on a moments notice. She was a devoted wife and mother and loved get-togethers with her nieces and nephews. Florida was her second home and she loved being at her condominium, watching the wildlife and the ocean. She was a great advocate of animal rights and protecting our environment and was active politically throughout her husband's career as a Circuit Judge and her daughter's career as a Macomb County Commissioner and a Macomb County Road Commissioner. Dorothy was a devout Catholic and loved experiencing Mass at different churches around the world, through her travels. Mrs. Daner is survived by her daughter, Mary Louise Daner of Mount Clemens. A Funeral Mass will be recited on Tuesday, April 19, 2005 at 9:30 a.m. in St. Peter Catholic Church, Market Street, Mount Clemens with the Reverend Father Michael N. Cooney officiating. Burial will follow in St. Peter Catholic Cemetery in Clinton Township. The visitation will be in the Will and Schwarzkoff Funeral Home, 233 Northbound Gratiot Avenue, Mount Clemens on Monday from Noon until 9 p.m. with a Scripture Service at 7 p.m. and on Tuesday in church from 9 a.m. until time of Mass. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Macomb County, 22 Mile Road, Macomb Township.
