Doris VirginiaGlidden Goodwin, 90 WELLS - Doris Virginia Glidden Goodwin, 90, of Hillside Street, died Sunday evening, June 12, 2005 at York Hospital following a brief illness.She was born in South Effingham, New Hampshire on July 21, 1914, a daughter of Fred Colley and Edna Wentworth Philpot Glidden. On May 31, 1941, she married Lee Wendell Goodwin. He died in 1989.Mrs. Goodwin held several jobs over the course of her lifetime, most in the area of bookkeeping. She was employed by Central Maine Power Co, Springvale Public Library, and Springvale National Bank (now known as Key Bank).She was a very caring person and thoroughly enjoyed helping others. She and her husband delivered 'meals on wheels.' She was a Gray Lady at Goodall Hospital, a trustee and volunteer at the Wells Public Library, a Girl Scout Leader, and for many years volunteered at Laudholm Farm in Wells.She was a member of the Eastern Star. In addition to reading, and doing things for others, she was very talented at handwork and made many afghans, sweaters, and mittens for church fairs.Doris was predeceased by a brother, Ray Glidden, and a sister, Bernice Glidden Vennard.Survivors include a daughter, Cynthia Goodwin Riley of Wells; a grandson, Thomas L.G. Riley of Portland; and a sister, Velma Glidden Carr of Dover, N.H.There are no visiting hours.
