Doris Rose (Lemieux) Smith, of Bristol, died on Monday, (September 12, 2005) at Southington Care Center after a courageous battle with cancer. Mrs. Smith was born in Bristol on December 16, 1938 and was a daughter of the late Philias and Mary Rose (Morin) Lemieux. A lifelong Bristol resident, she graduated from St. Ann Grammar School and Bristol High School. Always giving of herself and caring for others, she volunteered for 16 years at New Britain General Hospital. She was a member of St. Ann Church, Bristol, where she was a member of the Ladies of St. Ann Society. Mrs. Smith is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, William and Sue Trotta-Smith of Southington; three daughters and two sons-in- law, Donna Rose Smith of Woodbury, Becky and Dave Weavill of Waldorf, MD, and Elizabeth Smith-Fries and John Fries of Southington; a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Corrine Lemieux of Bristol; a sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn and William Briere of Bristol; ten grandchildren, Victoria, Jacquelyn, Nathaniel, and Virginia Weavill, Haley and Ian Smith-Fries, and Chloe, Tessa, Teodoro, and Devorah Trotta-Smith; her former husband, Elliott Smith of Bristol; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 15, 9 a.m. from Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol, to St. Ann Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol.
