CARIBOU and ST. FRANCIS - Doris O. Thibodeau, 73, passed away March 8, 2012. She was born April 1, 1938, in St. Francis, daughter of Adolphe and Flossie (Sturgeon) Ouellette. Doris was a hard working woman and mother. She was praised for excellent homemade bread and jams. In her late teens she performed at rodeos in Wolfeboro, N.H. She was a lumberwoman and a professional truck driver. She was known as "Lady Cherokee" in her long and short haul trucking days. Doris was a giving woman who would help anyone who asked her. She was a friend to many. Doris is survived by her four daughters, Carolyn Rhone and husband, Loren, of Modesto, Calif., Donna Sander and husband, Eckley, of Port Joe, Fla., Sharon Haulk and husband, Greg, of Covington, Ga., and Jodi Rustin and husband, Jonathon, of Edison, Ga.; two sons, Roland Thibodeau Jr. and his wife, Samantha, of Caribou and Kevin Thibodeau and his companion, Mary Ann, of Washburn; the father of her children, Roland Thibodeau Sr. of Caribou; her sisters, Thelma Kelly and Hilton of New Sweden, Pauline Nadeau and husband, Vernal, of St. Francis, Bertha Hotchkiss and husband, Gerald, of Tuscon, Ariz., Verna O'Leary and husband, Patrick, of Caribou and Leola Onerato and husband, Mike, of Kenduskeag; her brothers, Adolphe Ouellette Jr. and his wife, Sue, of Colbert, Wash., Franklin Ouellette Sr. and his wife, Sharon, of Bangor, Thomas Pelletier and his wife, Rhona, of St. Francis and Gordon Pelletier and his wife, Sally, of Hermon; a special brother, Roland Soucy and his wife, Grace, of Allagash; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; her sisters, Shirley Simon and husband, Roger, Mrs. Mabel Albert and Mrs. Sadie Plourde; and her brothers, Patrick Ouellette and Richard Ouellette. Per Doris' request, there will be no visiting hours or funeral Mass. Her ashes will be laid to rest at a spring burial next to her father at St. Charles Catholic Cemetery, St. Francis. Spring burial arrangements will be published at a later date in the Bangor Daily News. Donations may be made to the charity of one's choice. Condolences may be sent to Pauline Nadeau, 144 Main St., St. Francis, ME 04774; she will forward them to family members. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Daigle Funeral Home, 14 East Main St., Fort Kent.
