Doris Miller Stepp King, 87, Springfield, Mo., died Thursday, June 4, 2009, in Mercy Villa Care Facility. She was born in Douglas County, Mo., on August 14, 1921, to Ernest and Bertha Rogers Miller. The family moved to Wright County in 1927, shere she graduated from Norwood Missouri High School in 1938. She attended Missouri State University (then Southwest Teachers College), she taught several years and then worked for many years as a secretary/bookkeeper. Mrs. King was a member of University Heights Baptist Church, where she enjoyed volunteering for church related activities. She was preceded in death by husbands, Victor Stepp and Harold King; her parents; and two brothers, Paul Rogers Miller and Roy C. Miller. She is survived by her sister and her husband, Valora and Jack Bouldin of Springfield; sisters-in-law, Margaret "Peg" Miller and Pearl Stepp; nieces and nephews, Rita and Walter Hawkins, David and Valerie Miller, Sarah Miller and David Babski, Thomas and Cheri Bouldin, James and Molly Bouldin, Marjorie Miller and Peter Fontaine, and Steve and Peggy Stepp; as well as many great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 9, 2009, in Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home, with Dr. Michael Olmstead officiating. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, before services. Private graveside service will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to University Heights Baptist Church, 1010 S. National, Springfield, MO 65804.
