ANDERSON Doris Jean, 67, of 621 N Martin Luther King Blvd, widow of John E. Anderson, passed away Thursday Feb 27, 2014 at St. Joseph Hospital. Born in Garrard County (Davistown), she was the daughter of the late Flossie Mae Taylor and Eddie Mayfield. Her survivors include two sons, John (Joya) Anderson and Paul Anderson; one brother, Robert Leavell; five sisters, Gladys Denton, Gertrude Poyntz, Nora (Donald) Martin, Yevette (Zack) Relford, all of Lexington, KY, and Brenda (Michael) Brannon of Georgia. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Algernon (Vickiy), Jonathan, Techell , and Jalyn; special aunts Hazel Haskins, and Ida Mae Taylor; sister-in law Dorothy Mayfield; a special cousin Charles Smith; and a special friend Fannie Kendrick; a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and generations of other family members. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Lawrence Mayfield, and her aunt Mamie Mayfield. The funeral service will be held at 1pm on March 6 at St John Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Cove Haven Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11am until time of service. Services by Smith & Smith Funeral Home.
