HUMPHREY - Doris Barton "Bart" Age 93 of Temple, died Saturday, January 14, 2012 in a Clifton, Texas hospital. Services are scheduled for 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at Grace Presbyterian Church with Rev. Kathy Vineyard officiating. Bart was born on March 26, 1918 in Castile, Wyoming County, New York to Frank Albert and Olive Payn Barton. She was educated in the New York State School System and graduated from the Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing in Buffalo, New York, Class of 1939, earning a diploma in Professional Nursing and becoming a registered nurse. She practiced industrial nursing during World War II. Bart married William Leonard Humphrey in 1942. Bart, Bill and family moved to Arlington, Texas in 1951 when Bell Helicopter Company relocated to Hurst, Texas. They lived in Arlington and Amarillo, Texas until Bill retired from Bell Helicopter. Bart and Bill selected Salado, Texas for their retirement, moving there in 1986. She was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church in Temple and the Mary Martha Circle. Bart was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 50 years, William L. Humphrey; a son, John Barton Humphrey and a granddaughter, Leslie Ann Humphrey. Survivors include two children, Robert Wayne Humphrey and Diane Elizabeth Robinson; four grandchildren, Neal Barton Humphrey, Sylvie Francis Mapel, Anne Elizabeth Humphrey and Miles Blair Humphrey; one sister, Jane Barton Hance; three nephews, Tom, Bill and Jonn Hance and one niece, Ruth Hance Fiske. Bart was known to all in her circle of family and close friends for her extraordinary value of family, for her loving devotion to husband Bill, for her cherished role as mother and grandmother, and as a devoted, faithful friend. She brought comfort, support and happiness to all without judgment or condition, embodying her strong Christian faith. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Mrs. Humphrey's name to Meals on Wheels, c/o Grace Presbyterian Church, 2401 South 57th Street, Temple, TX 76504.
