ARMSTRONG, Doris May 1923 - 2008 It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend, Doris May Armstrong. Doris passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 23, 2008, surrounded by her loved ones. She will be dearly missed by her husband Alan William, her children Anthony (Kathryn), Gerri (Robert Guerriere), Dr. Jennifer Armstrong (Stuart Fergusson), and her grandchildren Stephen, Joanna, Patrick and Sarah, as well as the many people whose lives she touched. Doris was a woman of strength, beauty and elegance who brought magic to everything she did and everyone around her. She brought immeasurable joy to her children and grandchildren, giving them special memories to last a lifetime. They will always hold dear her lessons of love, integrity, caring and kindness to others. Doris, a British war bride, was a member of the Women's Auxiliary Air Force (RAF) during World War II and arrived in Canada, May 1946. She loved dancing and art, and mentored many artists throughout her life. In Ottawa, she worked at Koymann's Art Gallery, and afterward her own Aries Art Gallery. Later in Toronto, she managed an exclusive woman's clothing store, "Motion", for a dress designer. We wish to express our sincere thanks to all of the wonderful doctors, nurses and staff at the Ottawa Civic Hospital who took very good care of our mother and treated her with respect and compassion, as well as supporting us through this difficult time. Visitation will be held at Pinecrest Visitation Centre (2500 Baseline Road Ottawa) on Saturday, Sept 27, 2-4pm. Service Sunday, September 28, at 4:30 pm in the Pinecrest Chapel, followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers, donations to Allergy and Environmental Health Association (AEHA) of Ontario or The Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
