Piedmont - Funeral services for Donna Ruth Brown, 62, will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Pike officiating. Burial will follow at Crestwood Cemetery in Gadsden. Mrs. Brown passed away Sunday, September 4, 2011, at her home. Survivors include a daughter, Shonie Brown Bell (Vince), of Altoona; a granddaughter, Madison Bell, of Altoona; three sisters, Linda Batey (Bill), of Gadsden and Rhonda Sanford and Cindy Brown, both of Piedmont; two brothers, James Grace (Juanita), of Alexandria and Joe Grace (Kelly), of Picayune, Mississippi; brother-in-law, John Spoon, of Piedmont; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Kevin Farmer, Scott Pate, Joe Spoon, Cody Spoon, Phillip Grace and Ben Grace. Mrs. Brown was a Cherokee County native and was a Piedmont resident most of her life. She was a member of Northside Baptist Church, loved to cook, can, work in her flower garden and make crafts. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Wayne Brown; her mother, Vernocia Prestridge; her father, M.D. Grace; a sister, Nina Spoon; and a brother-in-law, Jerry Sanford.
