SMITH, Donna May March 31, 1963 - February 19, 2013 Donna May Smith, beloved wife of Howard, passed away on Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at the age of 49 years. Donna May spent most of her youth with her siblings and mom in Edmonton, AB where she went to school with BFF Blair and met her husband Howard, where they were married in 1987. Donna May moved with her family to beautiful British Columbia in 1992, where the family spent five wonderful years in Langley, where lifelong friendships were made. Donna May loved the mountains and being near the ocean and going to White Rock with her young family to walk barefoot while the tide was out. In 1997, the family moved to Calgary, where she again made many solid, lasting friendships with Sundance neighbours, the people she worked with at Alberta Health Services, and many other people she met during her sixteen years in Calgary. She was a voracious reader, Jeep lover and a crossword puzzle expert. She loved walking and biking in Fish Creek Park, hanging out with Howard and her girls and also enjoyed social golfing with her mom, the ladies and with Howard in the desert. She also loved hiking in the mountains of British Columbia, Alberta, Hawaii, Arizona and California. Donna May was a thoughtful, loving and gentle mother, wife, daughter, sister, and close friend to many. Many people called her their best friend and the best listener they had met. She valued family, friends and kindness. These were the most important things to her. She was most proud of her two daughters, Jessica and Kelsey, and the genuine, caring people they have become. She will be dearly missed by husband Howard; daughters Jessica (Jason) and Kelsey; mother Joyce Munn; sister MJ Munn-Kristoff (Terry); nephew Matthew Kristoff; nieces, Shauna and Sarah Kristoff; brother Robert Munn; and all of those friends that she touched. She was predeceased by her father Norman Munn and by her sister Norma Munn. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY'S Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Sunday, February 24, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Foothills Country Hospice Society, P.O. Box 274, Okotoks, AB T1S 1A5 (Telephone 403-995-4673, www.countryhospice.org) or to the Breast Cancer Supportive Care Foundation (BCSCF), Suite 414, Hillhurst Building, 301 - 14 Street N.W., Calgary, AB T2N 2A1 (Telephone 403-270-2158, www.bcscf.com). In living memory of Donna May Smith, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park.
