Donna Mauree Stewart, 63, of Rock Island, Illinois, passed away on July 20, 2008, in Seasons Hospice in Rochester, Minnesota, following a lengthy illness. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. in Broadway Presbyterian Church, 710 23rd St., Rock Island, Ill., on Thursday, July 24. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 23, from 4 to 6 p.m., in the church. Arrangements are by Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island. Burial will be held in Eastlawn Cemetery, in Springfield, Missouri, on July 26. Donna was born on October 31, 1944, in Shenandoah, Iowa, to Don and Dorothy Boylan. After growing up on the family farm, Donna graduated from Iowa State University, studying interior design and elementary education. Donna enjoyed teaching in the Des Plaines public school system in Des Plaines, Illinois, for several years. While living in Chicago, she met Ron Stewart, a seminary student from Springfield, Missouri, attending McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago, Ill. Donna and Ron were married on June 19, 1971, and were privileged to share 37 years together. Donna was a member of Broadway Presbyterian Church in Rock Island, Ill., where she enjoyed participating in as many activities as her health would permit. Whether it was participating in the Knitters service projects, engaging in conversations about matters of faith, or teaching preschool children, Donna loved the interaction and sharing. She was currently serving as president of PEO Chapter BK in Rock Island, and enjoyed the opportunity over the years to be friends with women devoted to helping others. Donna enjoyed her family and friends, and felt that she had been blessed with a wonderful life. She believed she was encircled by God's presence and will continue to be cared for in the life eternal. Donna is survived by her husband, Rev. Ron Stewart; her daughter, Jennie Stewart of Springfield, Missouri; her son, Scott Stewart and daughter-in-law, Jennifer of St. Louis, Missouri; her sister, Betty Miller and her husband, Jon of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; her brother, Carl Boylan and his wife, Margie of Shenandoah, Iowa; her mother-in-law, Maxine Stewart of Springfield, Missouri; brothers and sisters-in-law, Gary and Denise Stewart of Stilwell, Kansas, and Steve and Kris Stewart of Springfield, Missouri; her aunts, Thelma Boyland and Delores Fischer, both of Shenandoah, Iowa; and many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Don and Dorothy Boylan of Shenandoah, Iowa.
