Donald W. MacKenzie died peacefully at home on Sunday March 13, 2011 after a long illness. A native of Brookline, MA, he was the son of the late Marjorie Ward (Strain) of Brookline and the late Alexander MacKenzie of Hingham, MA. Following 5 years in the Air Force, Don worked for Eastern Airlines, and then joined the staff of the Boston Symphony Orchestra where he was Operations Manager of Symphony Hall for nearly 20 years. More recently, Don was semi-retired and spent 17 years as Assistant Director of the Wellesley Community Center in Wellesley, MA before fully retiring in 2008. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Jean M. MacKenzie of Milford, and his four children: Gary W. MacKenzie of Barnstable; Glenn S. MacKenzie of Centerville; Gayle Cotter of Mashpee and Gerilyn Fogarty of Plymouth. A memorial service and celebration of his life will be held 12:00 PM on Friday March 18, 2011 in the Chapel at Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main Street, Ashland, MA.
