Donald Roy Ingalls, 66 PORTLAND - Donald Roy Ingalls, 66, passed away peacefully at Mercy Hospital on March 24, 2006. He was born in Norway on Aug. 28, 1939 the son of Roy and Georgia (Eastman) In- galls. Don graduated from Samuel D. Hanson High School in Buxton, in 1957. He served our country during high school with the Marine Reserves; then, after high school in the U.S. Air Force. Don married Jean Thibodeau on May 9, 1964, and together they had 3 children. They raised their family in Portland. He worked for New England Phone and Telegraph, which later became AT&T for 34 years. He and his family loved to go camping, snowmobiling and boating. They were at Four Seasons year after year where Don was always taking kids water skiing. Friends referred to Don as Meathead during those summers. Don also enjoyed traveling especially with the Coachmen Club. He and Jean traveled the entire east coast. He never missed the Fryeburg Fair. He was also an avid NASCAR fan, especially Jeff Gordon; he tried to never miss a race. Don was an honest, upright man who was outspoken and straightforward. His quiet generosity will never be forgotten. Don and Jean had a love that knew no bounds. He was his family's rock. Don was predeceased by his parents; son, Shawn Ingalls; and siblings George Ingalls, Russell Ingalls, and Muriel Ingalls. Don is survived by his wife of 41 years, Jean Ingalls; children, Roni Cooke of Alaska, Valerie McKague of Portland and Christopher Ingalls and his wife Candi of Gorham; siblings, Jeanette Graffam of Bridgeton, Georgia Wilson of South Paris, Wayne Ingalls of Monmouth, and Warren Goss of Zephyrhills, Fla.; grandchildren, Joseph, Christopher, Angelica, Malcolm, Claudia, Helaine, Cassandra, Alyssa and Deanne; and many nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will he held from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 28 at Jones Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St., Portland. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 29 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Stevens Avenue, Portland. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Westbrook.
