Don was born on June 11, 1932 in Highland Park, MI. He was one of two children born to Ray and Lois Johnson. He graduated from Dondero High School of Royal Oak, MI in 1950. On September 1, 1951, he was united in marriage to Barbara Ann Grady in Royal Oak, MI. Following their marriage, the couple made their home in Royal Oak, MI and then to Rochester, MI where they raised a family of 5 children. Don worked as a draftsman at Chrysler until June of 1969 when he left to become a builder. In 1973 he and his family moved to Avon Park, where he continued working as a builder until his retirement, in 1995. Don is survived by his sister, Marilyn Wilcox (Robert) of Libertyville, IL; son, Michael Johnson of Avon Park, FL; daughter, Judith (Jeffrey) Bratvold of Avon Park, FL; daughter, Laurie (William) Stringfield of St Petersburg, FL; son, James (Margaret) Johnson of Melbourne, FL; as well as, 11 Grandchildren and 9 Great Grandchildren. Donald was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Barbara Johnson, and son, Stephen Johnson.
