MacKENZIE, Donald Angus It is with sadness we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Donald Angus MacKenzie at the age of 75. Don passed away on May 17, 2002 at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary surrounded by his family following a short illness. Don was an inspiring teacher and principal with the Edmonton Catholic School System. He served in the Battle of the Atlantic in the RCNVR during WW II and worked with United Geophysical in Venezuela and Libya before turning to teaching. Don married his wife, Alma in 1959. Don's happiest times were spent with his grandchildren Adam and Tori. Don was predeceased by his parents, Olive and Joseph MacKenzie of Wainwright, AB; his brother, David; his sisters, Kathy Nagel and Anne McGuire; and his brothers-in-law, Maurice Hermary and Otto Hauck. Donald is survived by his loving wife, Alma; his two daughters, Barbara MacKenzie and Janet (Dave) Stosky; his brother, John (Joan) MacKenzie; his sisters, Isabel Hauck, Frances (Donald) Downey, Olive (Terry) Burns, Jean (Neil) Miller, Ellen (Jim) Ogilvy; his sister-in-law, Merle Cunnings; his brothers-in-law, Dan McGuire and Gordon Nagel; his wife's brother, Douglas (Fay) Lent; and many nieces and nephews. Prayers will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 21, 2002 at Our Lady of Assumption Parish, 9040 - 95th Avenue, where Reverend Clement Gauthier will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 22 with interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. The family kindly request no perfume. Memorial contributions to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Lung Association, or the Heart and Stroke Foundation will be appreciated.
