Funeral services for Donald L. Lucas will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 22, 2002, at the graveside, at Royal Pines Memorial Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Taylor Wells and the Rev. James P. Blackwelder. Masonic grave rites will follow. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. today at Pope Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Carolina Children's Home; or Stephen Greene Baptist Church. Mr. Lucas, 75, died Wednesday, June 19, 2002. Born in Winnsboro, Dec. 3, 1926, he was the son of the late George Preston Lucas and Lera Cannady Lucas. He was a retired supervisor with UniRoyal, Inc., was a Navy veteran of World War II, and was a member of Winnsboro Masonic Lodge No. 11 A.F.M. Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Frances Mixon Lucas; a daughter and son-in-law, Donna Lucas Williams and Shepard N. Williams, of Laurens; sons and daughters-in-law, Donald Lee Lucas Jr. and Dawn E. Lucas of Greenville, and Michael Wayne Lucas and Terri A. Lucas of Hilton Head Island; and nine grandchildren, Frances Williams Richards and her husband Captain Ken Richards, of Del Rio, Texas, Rebecca C. Williams of Greenville, Ellen N. Williams of Clemson, Jean B. Lucas, Bradley Mixon Lucas and Owen D. Lucas, all of Greenville, and Corly Jean Lucas, Michael W. Lucas Jr. and Wyatt Lee Lucas, all of Hilton Head Island.
