Donald (Don) Lee Morriss, 86, of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2010. He was born in Topeka, Kan., and is the son of William Floyd Sr. and Leatha Mae (Goff) Morriss. Don was a graduate of Topeka High School and began a career as a gifted vocalist and musician playing with various groups during the big band era. After several years in the music industry, Mr. Morriss established a career in hospital health services and retired as a scrub technician at the Lahey Clinic in Boston, Mass.Mr. Morriss is survived by his nephew of Topeka and five grandnieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, William F. Morriss Jr. and Melvin W. Morriss.Don Morriss touched the lives of many throughout his life and will be missed dearly by his friends and family. At his request, no funeral services are being planned.The family is being served by McLaughlin Funeral Home, Fort Walton Beach, Florida.
